Mark Gardiner

Mark is a seasoned Multi-instrumental, Singer / Songwriter, performer and entertainer. Often nicknamed as “Sergeant Trouser” as he has played in many bands including “Bricks and Mortar” and “Sergeant Trouser and currently “The Broken Sweethearts”gaining much support as well as performing alongside Neil Murray, Keith Potger (The Seekers),Swannee , Chris Wilson and Alan Barnes gaining much experience.

Mark’s band “The Broken Sweethearts” is currently No.4 on the Reverbnation Indie Charts for Victoria and Top 20 for Australia and has previously released his debut EP “The Great Divide EP” as produced by Brian Canham (Pseudo Echo, Brill, Anthony Calea) and mastered by Martin Pullan at Edensound Mastering at Armstrong Studios in South Melbourne featuring 6 tracks on the CD and download it off Itunes. Mark has performed at Federation square “Where the floddy hell are you?” for flood relief in 2011.

Mark has performed at various festivals, charity events and volunteered to assist fellow artists and bands at including The Bendigo Blues and Rock Festival in 2008 & 2009 and The Basin Music Festival 2009-2013 with The Broken Sweethearts. Mark has also performed at The Pepper tree Festival in Bendigo and and The Sonic Arts Festival in Bendigo in 2009 & 2010. He also peformed at the Long Live Live Music fest in Bendigo in 2010 and Peaches and Cream festival in Moama NSW in 2009 and The StKilda festival playing trumpet with Lady Lash in 2012 and early 2013.

Mark was also The Honorary Secretary of The Croydon Brass Band in 2005 and 2006, President and Vice President of The Independent Musos Network in 2008 and 2009 and The Basin Music Festival Secretary and Committee member in 2007, 2008, 2009. Mark mainly sings but can play 6 instruments – Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Harmonica, Keyboards, Brass-Trumpet, Euphonium, and he also sings.

Mark has played in front of mixed audiences from 100 to a football crowd of 20,000 fans at The Hawthorn Football Club Family Day and Grand Final Celebration Day in 2008 with CROWSFEET and Mark has also performed solo and acoustically at various venues including: Don’t Tell Tom-Brunswick, The Corner Hotel-Richmond, Hopscotch, The Shamrock Hotel –Bendigo, The Windermere Hotel- Bendigo, The Criterion Hotel(Top Pub)- Rushworth, The United Kingdom Hotel- Bendigo, The Noise Bar- Brunswick, Paddy’s Tavern-Ferntree Gully, The Basin Music Festival 2007-2013, Scorcherfest 2010 and 2011,Peaches and Cream festival – Moama, The Bendigo Rock and Blues Festival 2008 and again in 2009 playing as a guest trumpet with local band The Vagrants & Ska outfit Loonee Tunes.

Mark has also played trumpet and arranged brass parts for Indie bands such as Dirt River Radio, Veil, Farook, Parker, and more recently Indigenous Soul /Hip Hop act Crystal Mercy as well as performing at The Hi Fi Bar with a 4 piece brass section for The Vagranst CD launch as well as The OnFires and Loonee Tunes at The Cherry Bar in AC/DC lane.
